Families & professionals

You’re part of the team around the person.

A brain injury affects whole families and networks. We build family and professional input into every support plan — and keep the focus firmly on helping each person make the most of life as their journey continues.

For families & friends

Families and friends often form an essential part of someone’s support network, so we value your input and build it in. We provide family support and network days, and hold family events so relatives can receive specialist support and build connections with other families walking the same road.

  • Family support and regular network days
  • Family events to connect relatives with one another
  • Daily 1:1 discussion time for residents, with regular Key Worker meetings
  • A Peer Support Worker with lived experience of brain injury

For referring professionals

We work in conjunction with any existing therapists for an integrated pathway, running programmes set by therapists through daily, functional goals. We hold regular multidisciplinary team reviews and compile reports where they’re helpful for you and the wider team to track progress.

  • Integrated working with existing therapists and teams
  • Regular MDT reviews and progress reporting
  • Recognised outcome measures (SASNOS, GAS, CDS)
  • Bespoke ABI training for everyone in the support network

Towards greater independence

Our aim is for each person to be as independent as possible. Once someone has regained confidence and a good set of skills and strategies, we support the move back home or into more independent living — working with a new support team to transfer programmes, or providing a seamless outreach service so rehabilitation never has to stop.

‘In-reach’ services

We also have some opportunities for non-residents to attend sessions at Ariya House and Elizabeth House on an agreed sessional basis — some educational and peer-support sessions are open to non-residents.
